latest versions. where: atari-midi-archives/files/UTILITIES/genmouse/ genmouse v 2.5 + genmouse v 2.6 beta ______________ due to all the problems with genmouse, i have uploaded the 'original (?)' archives, which include the docs in german and english. what's in the zip's: only german + english docs + genmouse.app --- what else do you need: -a serial mouse ( 1/ there are different types. read the docs first. 2/ a ps/2 mouse is not the same thing at all, allthough there are combo-mice that work with both the ps/2 and the serial protocol. -on a regular st: a male db 9 to female db25 adaptor. this plugs into the modem port. on later machines: other options are available too i think. (read docs) --- how to use it: genmouse.app is the program that will create the 'mouse.prg' driver. it uses a GUI. read the docs. the german doc is not exactly the same as the english one, so read them both if possible. doubleclick on genmouse.app choose a mouse type:logitech / msdos / ... obviously, a driver created for one type of serial mouse might NOT work with another type. you can set a basic acceleration value too, but it's better to use silkmouse for acceleration. if you set acceleration to 1, it will seem at first like you cannot move the mouse anymore, this is normal. a value of 9 seemed to work best for me. click on save. this will create the 'mouse.prg' driver, which is only 4 kb big. it seems like it _must_ be saved in the default path. after this the program will automatically quit to the desktop. with tos 1.4 and up, control drag (= move) 'mouse.prg' to the auto folder. or you can doubleclick on 'mouse.prg' to install it from the desktop. it is possible to use the regular atari mouse AND the serial mouse. in case you don't have a working atari mouse to install the driver: *use alt arrows or alt shift arrows ('slow') for mouse movements. *alt insert and alt clr/home (i believe) duplicate left and right mouse button. _______________ right now i have tested it only with tunesmith (which works! tos 1.4). i'll let you gringos know in case there are any compatibility problems with other programs. bye, gregory
