Here is a post I found on the Notator list archive when we were discussing Hotz and Softlink. BTW: Hallvard and Mario Becroft have now made the Notator list archives searchable. Go here and put in a subject: http://notator.org/#search TimC ------------------------------------- [Notator/Creator SL mailing list] The neat thing about Hotz is that it lets you play a chord with one piano key (lower keys on piano). Then you can assign whatever scale you want to go with that chord to the C scale (all white notes, upper keys). You can assign different chords to different keys in the lower keys (bank) and what ever scale you want to go with each one of those chords keys. The scales change automatically when you hit the different assigned chord keys (lower) and can be all played on the white keys only. So every scale or tune is played on the white C scale notes. Instead of having to plunk out each chord of a piece, they can be played by hitting one key. Instead of having to play the various scales that fit those chords using different combinations of white and black keys, you can play all scales on the white keys. The black upper keys are the arpeggiated notes of whatever chord you are playing on one key in the lower keys. The result is a doubling or tripling of your technical and creative ability. You don't have to spend time thinking about how to play the right chords and scales, and can use your brain power for the creative aspect. Try his pre-set chord and scale setups. Glenn
