First some remarks on part 1. I have noticed that people think the PC has to be synced to the Atari. This is *not* the case. Also: I have never tried this setup with Cakewalk (silly name...anyone knows the story behind that?), but I have with Cubasis (free version) and VST. Cakewalk seems to have more advanced SF control then Cubase has. Btw: the following is all from memory, there may be some errors. Ok. Soundfont tutorial part 2. Start up Cubase first (on the PC:-), then AweVbank. AweVbank: Basicly there are 4 windows. The lower three make up some sort of file browser. When you have installed the program for the first time it looks a bit confusing. First of all you will have to tell AweVbank where your soundfonts are. Click right in the leftmost window. Click: create new shortcut. A file selector opens. Choose the drive/partition/map where your soundfonts are. Click open. Select a map or a soundfont. You now should see something in the middle window. Click on one of the entries. Now the rightmost windows shows a bank with one or more Soundfonts. Go to the top window. Select Virtual bank 1. Drag and drop the soundfont of your choice from the rightmost window to the topwindow, in the first 'slot'. Think of this slot as Midichannel 1, program change 1, bank 1. Now we are ready to set up Cubase. Cubase: Create a track, or change an existing one like this: Bank 128 (in LSB format, or Bank 1 in MSB), Midi channel 1, Program Change 1. You're done! Now set up any other channel, repeating the steps as described above: Bank 128, Midi channel 2, Program change 2 and so on. Set up your Atari the same way. Well, this is it. Please note: this is only MY solution. I'm very well aware there maybe other solutions that work just as well. Happy 'Soundfonting'!!
