Does anybody know how the scale mapper in CC works? >It don't hear any difference whatever scale I choose. Hi Guido I have not forgotton your question!I was investigating it myself. First of all, lets look what it says in the manual: ============================================================= Scale Mapper Nothing is more ghastly than discordant parts, unless of course that’s what you’re aiming to produce. This is why Charming Chaos has a Scale Map: so it will only ever pick notes that you think will fit together nicely. Notes on the keyboard display that are selected are highlighted; those that aren’t won’t ever be chosen to play, unless you enable them, either using PM or directly. The rate control determines the frequency of change, where a setting of 0 would mean that Charming Chaos would use the same note all of the time, and a maximum setting would change it every step. Although the map is only one octave, by turning up the depth dial, Charming Chaos will choose from a wider range of notes up to eight octaves (based around the root octave). When an algorithm is set to poly mode, it’s best to increase the depth setting, so that its maximum four-notes can be attained. ============================================================ Notice it says: "Unless you enable them using PM or directly". PM means if the PM LED on the front panel on the "tracks" are selected. This could be the problem. Also, I have found that experimenting with the Depth and Rate dials effect the way it is played as well as the OCTAVE setting (above the words DNA SEED CONSTRUCTION)I still don't know what the MODE dialog on the scale (key) mapper section is, as it is not covered in the above instructions. I suspect it is "Key" to it as well :-)Also a word of note: to see what "algorithm" you are editing, it is in the SEED SELECT dialog on the left corner of the DNA seed box. I would make sure all the "tracks" are all using the same algorithm you are editing, otherwise it will sound like you have not changed anything. You can also try mutting 3 voices and working with 1 voice, although I have found that CC creates its sound with multiple voices trading off on one another. >BTW: In color mode some icons in the DNA construction window look funny... >Perhaps this is a problem on the Falcon only? I have found you can adjust these colors using whatever screen color editor you have. (such as the CPX module in XControl)or the simple Control.acc. I have found that you can create a very cool color scheme on a Falcon (256 colors!) as well as a TT (OK Charlie...time to load CC on your TT in TT MED and see what you can do with this baby!) :-) I have always liked the "look" of CC. It looks modern, like a VST plugin. It would be cool to see this in a HARDWARE type box: fat chance.! The other ECOW apps look the same way: well designed and good looking software. Tim C.
